MGX Resources Limited (ASX Code: MGX) is an established independent Australian miner that listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) as Mount Gibson Iron in 2002.

MGX has exported over 90 million tonnes of iron ore from its operations in the Mid West and Kimberley regions of Western Australia since sales commenced in early 2004. Production was concluded at the Mid West operations in 2021 and these assets were divested in mid-2023. The Company’s last remaining iron ore operation at Koolan Island in WA’s Kimberley region ceased production and sales in July 2026, when the final shipment of remnant low grade stockpiles was completed. Total sales from Koolan Island amounted to 43.7 Mt since MGX commenced production in 2007. In June 2026, MGX announced a binding agreement to divest the Koolan Island mine to a specialist logistics developer seeking to establish a major aviation and logistics hub in the region.

Ahead of the completion of iron ore operations, in July 2025 MGX accelerated its planned strategic pivot to precious and base metals, announcing agreement to acquire a 50% interest in the advanced high-grade Central Tanami Gold Project Joint Venture (CTPJV) in the Northern Territory. The  acquisition was completed ahead of schedule in early February 2026.  MGX sees the 2.8 Moz project as providing a foundation to become a gold producer within three years.

The Company also holds precious and base metals exploration tenements in the Mid-West and Gascoyne regions of WA.
